President Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Kigali, Rwanda earlier today to attend the 9th Northern Corridor Infrastructure (NCIP) Summit.
The plane carrying President Kenyatta and his delegation touched down at Kigali International Airport shortly after 10.00 a.m. local time and was received by senior Kenyan and Rwandese officials.
The NCIP is a multipronged infrastructure project bringing together Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and South Sudan that are mainly served by the port of Mombasa with the ultimate aim of facilitating regional integration. Tanzania, Burundi, and Ethiopia take part as observers.
Infrastructure envisaged by the project includes standard railway gauge, energy, roads, ICT, and oil pipelines for the region’s budding oil sector.
