President Uhuru Kenyatta has congratulated General Muhammadu Buhari for winning Nigerian general elections.
In his message, President Kenyatta said the election of General Buhari is a clear indication of the faith and trust the people of Nigeria have to his leadership and vision.
He expressed hope that relations between Kenya and Nigeria will be further strengthened to promote aspirations of the citizens of the two countries and the African continent at large.
President Kenyatta, at the same time, commended the outgoing Nigeria President Goodluck Jonathan for conceding defeat.
The President pointed out that conceding, will earn President Jonathan honour as it demonstrates courage, patriotism and statesmanship.
“This demonstrates a lot of humility and an indication that democracy has come of age in your country, and the African continent. No doubt this will earn you a place in the African eminent person’s honour,” President Kenyatta said.
President Kenyatta thanked the outgoing Nigerian President for his efforts to promote fruitful engagements between Kenya and his country during his tenure, which enabled the deepening of bilateral relations.
