CONGRATULATIONS TO THE GENERAL SECRETARY OF THE COMMUNIST PARTY OF CHINA AND PRESIDENT OF THE PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF CHINA XI JINPING

On February 11, 2019 In Statements and Speeches

It is a pleasure to convey to you Kenya’s warmest congratulations on your successful hosting of the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party, and on your re-election as General Secretary for a second five-year term.

The rejuvenation of China under your leadership has strengthened your nation and its many friends and partners across the world, Kenya among them. In the Standard Gauge Railway, the single largest infrastructure project in East and Central Africa, Kenya has proof of the power of co-operation and friendship between our two nations and peoples.

Indeed, earlier this year, I had the privilege of attending, at your invitation, the Belt and Road Initiative Forum for International Cooperation, which showed the world that shared prosperity and mutually beneficial development are possible when friends and partners put their minds to it. That is why it has been my honor to work with you in your first term.

I trust that our friendship, and that of our two nations, will grow stronger for the good of our peoples, and for the sake of our shared vision of a freer, more equal, and more prosperous world.

Kenya sends its warmest fraternal wishes of peace and prosperity to the people of China; and I send mine of good health and success to you, as you continue to lead your nation.

UHURU KENYATTA, C.G.H.

PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KENYA
