President Uhuru Kenyatta has sent a message of condolence the family, relatives and friends of the late Mzee Ali Mohammud.
Mzee Mohammud, popularly known as Ali Kabati was a prominent and longstanding businessman in Thika town.
In his message, the President described the late Mzee Mohammud as a much-respected community and opinion leader.
The president noted that Mzee Mohammud served as a councillor in Thika Municipal Council for 47 years, rising to the position of Deputy Mayor of the town.
“Indeed, it is just late last year that I conferred on him a national honour, the Order of the Burning Spear – the Elder of the Order of the Burning Spear (EBS) – in recognition of the distinguished service he rendered to the nation,” said the President.
The President said the death of Mzee Mohammud is not only a loss to his family but also to the entire country.
President Kenyatta has also sent a message of encouragement and comfort to the family, relatives and friends of Letuya Ole Risa Sunkuya who passed on in a Nairobi hospital.
Risa, a form three student at Sunshine Secondary School is the first-born son of Kajiado West MP George Sunkuyia.
In his message, President Kenyatta said it was unfortunate that death has cut short the life of a promising young Kenyan.
He assured Kajiado West MP Sunkuyia and his family of his support and prayers at this difficult moment.
