Kenyan High Commission In Uganda Expanded

President Uhuru Kenyatta this afternoon opened a new chancery building for the Kenyan High Commission in Kampala with a call to strengthening bilateral relations between Kenya and Uganda. Addressing the embassy staff and Kenyans residing in Uganda, the President thanked them for their good work in strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. “At the end of the day what we are looking for is one East Africa. This is our long term objective as we move forward,” said the President. The President expressed hope that the new spacious building will facilitate staff to achieve their goal of serving Kenyans and Ugandans who seek their services. “What you do here will bring our countries much closer” said the President. He said peace and stability are the corner stone of development and that the East African countries will continue working together to ensure the goal of having a stable region is achieved. “We are here first and foremost to show solidarity with the people of Uganda and the people of East Africa,” said President Kenyatta. He pointed out that peace and stability are critical to achieving the agenda of socio-economic development of the region. President Kenyatta said the best diplomacy is people to people contact and urged Kenyans living in Uganda to build strong relations with their hosts even as they continue with their activities. The Kenyan High Commissioner to Uganda Major General (Rtd) Geoffrey Okanga briefed the President and the First Lady Margaret Kenyatta on the activities undertaken by the Commission. He said the main objective of the embassy is to serve Kenyans living in Uganda to ensure their interests and those of the country are taken care of. Ambassador Okanga thanked the President for his support which has ensured the mission has achieved its goal. Also present were the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Cabinet Secretary, Ambassador Amina Mohammed among other senior government officials.
