On March 31, 2020 In Speeches & Statements

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the family, friends and the Catholic Church and indeed all Kenyans as we mourn the passing into glory of the Retired Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi Raphael Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki.

Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki is a Kenyan icon, a bastion of peace and a man of true faith who answered his lifelong calling as minister of the gospel and a shepherd of mankind.

Besides his role as a religious leader, the late Archbishop dedicated himself to the protection of the weak and the fight for justice, and never shied away from doing the right thing, and in doing so, he distinguished himself as a servant leader and role model.

His Grace Archbishop Emeritus Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki was a true servant of God who loved all people and served our country with great zeal and humility.

Since his ordination as a priest in 1961, His Grace Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki faithfully served the Catholic Church with distinction and never compromised his calling even at the most trying and challenging times in the history of our country.

Through his love and selfless service, Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki became a father figure to many both inside and outside of the Catholic church. His contribution to Kenya’s social and political life over the decades will forever remain with us as a nation.

As a country, we have lost a great leader, an icon of our democracy and an irreplaceable servant of God. And as we mourn Archbishop Ndingi Mwana 'a Nzeki’s death, let us be grateful that he lived his life well in the Lord, and that he has left an indelible mark in the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

My heartfelt condolences and prayers of comfort to the family of Archbishop Ndingi Mwana a’Nzeki, his friends and the Catholic faithful of Machakos and Nakuru where he served as a Bishop before his elevation to serve in Nairobi as the Archbishop.

Fellow Kenyans, let us all take time to reflect on Archbishop Ndingi mwana a'Nzeki's famous words, “Mwamini Mungu si mtovu” (He who believes in God lacks nothing).

May the soul of Archbishop Raphael Ndingi Mwana a'Nzeki rest in God’s eternal peace.
